The South Carolina Foundation for Agriculture (SCFA), established in 2018, is an independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that promotes the future development of agribusiness research and entrepreneurship programs administered by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture through the Agribusiness Center for Research and Entrepreneurship (ACRE).
- SCFA seeks financial support through gifts, corporate memberships, investments and other fund-raising programs to advance agribusiness research and entrepreneurship.
- SCFA manages and disbursers funds prudently within a policy that encourages the enhancement of the resources of the Foundation.
- SCFA is governed by a board of directors consisting of agribusiness leaders who share in the belief that agribusiness in South Carolina will become a global example for agriculture, food and feed systems innovations.

The mission of SCFA is to promote the education, welfare, future development and promotion of agriculture, agribusiness and related efforts in South Carolina.
The vision of SCFA is to seek gifts or public funds for the benefit of SCDA programs through endowment giving, fund raising or other means.
In all activities of SCFA, its board of directors will prudently manage all fund accounts as well as the disbursement of these assets within a policy that encourages the enhancement of the resources of account owners within the SCFA and in accordance with the bylaws of the SCFA.
Endowment and Finances
The SCFA constantly searches for new products and portfolio management techniques to improve returns and/or control the risk associated with these returns. By correctly discharging its duties, the SCFA will provide an attractive alternative in which donors may entrust their assets designated for the benefit of SCDA agribusiness research and entrepreneurship programs.
Board of Directors
The board of directors has two categories of membership – elected and appointed.
Four (4) Directors shall be selected for three-year, overlapping terms and may hold any of the offices of the Board as defined in the SCFA Bylaws. An Elected Director shall not be an employee of the SCDA during his/her term as an Elected Director.
One Director shall hold a permanent position on the Board and shall be referred to herein as the Appointed Director. The Appointed Director shall be a designated appointee of the South Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture.
